Since graduating from the Academy in 1995, I have constantly been looking for ways to connect graduates and help the alumni community. Prosper is one of the best ways that I have found that we can all benefit one other. If you are not familiar with Prosper, here is a link to a recent article that ran in Forbes:

Prosper is a person-to-person lending platform that removes the middleman. It allows individuals to borrow at a lower rate and investors to invest at a higher rate. It is a great opportunity to help fellow grads get out of a tight spot or help them fund the business they are hoping to start. We have just recently help fund a $15,000 loan for home improvements and a $25,000 loan to help lower credit card interest rates. To make this work, we need to build awareness-for both lenders and borrowers. If we can find 100 graduates, who are all willing to make a $50 loan to someone else-we can instantly fund someone that is in a bind and help them out.
For more information go to the Prosper website at http://www.prosper.com . Graduates from the five federal service academies can go straight to the Service Academy Graduates Group at: http://www.prosper.com/public/groups/group_home.aspx?group_short_name=academygrads We can really help out grads in need. Full disclosure-I don't receive compensation for this. I have been making loans on the site for a year now and I am finally feeling comfortable with the platform.
Let me know if I can provide any additional information.
