Lani Hay, President and CEO of Lanmark Technology, Inc. has been selected as Office Depot’s Businesswoman of the Year for exemplary leadership, support and entrepreneurial spirit demonstrated as a woman in business. With over a decade of experience in the areas of military intelligence and business management, Ms. Hay has grown LMT from a one-woman consulting firm to a highly regarded, employee oriented, multi-million dollar technology business enterprise providing services and systems strengthening the Federal Government. Ms. Hay has also demonstrated a strong commitment to giving back to and serving her community, country and the world by mentoring inner city youth, socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, military veterans, and military academy students through established mentoring programs. Her service on a global scale is marked by her personal interest and contributions to rebuilding communities in Darfur, Rwanda, and Afghanistan, her support of and partnership with organizations that are dedicated to the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs abroad, and her continuous contributions to Tsunami and earthquake relief work. Additionally, in 2007 the Business Women’s Network (BWN) named Lani Hay its Woman to Watch, Enterprising Women honored Ms. Hay with its Enterprising Woman of the Year Award, and the Minority Enterprise Executive (MEE) Council named Ms. Hay as one of the Top 25 Most Powerful Minority Women in Business. Ms. Hay and LMT have been featured and profiled in many publications to include the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Veteran’s Business Journal, and MEA, CEO Initiatives, Enterprising Women, and SmartCEO Magazines.
The Office Depot “Businesswomen of the Year” award is presented annually to women who demonstrate outstanding leadership within their community, business or respective association, and are women business owners who demonstrate a commitment to promoting entrepreneurial spirit and support for women in business. The winners are selected by Office Depot and the Women’s Advisory Board. The 2007 winner will be awarded and honored at the Office Depot Success Strategies for Businesswomen conference, a premier women’s business conference offered to women in business.
